Cinquain Poetry

This tutorial is designed to introduce one type of Cinquain poetry format. It shows the reader how to structure a Cinquain poem according to the number of syllables in each line. Traditional cinquain poems are all 5 lines and have 2 syllables in the first line, 4 in the second, 6 in the third, 8 in the fourth, and back to 2 syllables in the fifth.

The tutorial ends with the following website for students to use to enter their own subjects and descriptors in order to generate their own cinquain poem.

The following link will also take the viewer to a blog on Ken Nesbitt's "Poetry 4 Kids" website to give some more history on the creation of the cinquain poetry style.
